Table Mountain to Cape Point

Wayne Milne
We arrived at Cape Town International Airport at 8:50 PM or 28 hours after we departed SFO. While the flight was long we were comfortable (South African Airlines) and we were able to sleep. After checking into the Mount Nelson Hotel and a short night of sleep we were up and on our way to see Table Mountain and  the Cape Peninsula. We had made arrangements for a driver/guide. Wayne Milne, owner and most excellent driver/guide of take2tours, hosted us for the next 9 hours.

Our first stop was at the base of Table Mountain where we boarded an aerial cableway which climbed 2310 feet to the top of the flat-topped mountain.

The views are breathtaking. Table Mountain is flanked by Devil’s Peak to the east and Lion’s Head to the west.

After descending from Table Mountain we ventured down the Cape Peninsula to the southwestern most point in Africa. But on the way we saw magnificant scenery and an amazing colony of birds in formal wear. First stop...with a drive along what has been descibed as one of  the most scenic in the world.
